Thomas Giesel

Vice President of R&D

Thomas Giesel is Vice President of R&D at Berlin Heals. His technical roots lie in embedded software, electronics and medical device development, complemented by experience in team leadership and project management.

Since joining in 2014, he has played a key role in shaping the company’s medical technology — from the first circuit and software concepts to clinical trials — and has built up an efficient and creative R&D department.

Before joining Berlin Heals, Thomas worked at MELAG Medical Technology, most recently as team leader of firmware development, building embedded software for autoclaves and washer-disinfectors. Prior to that, he spent more than a decade at telecommunications company Aastra, where he designed, specified and implemented software for WLAN and DECT telephony systems, from the driver to the application layer, gaining extensive experience in low-power design.

Thomas has always been fascinated by design that is elegant and minimalist, yet purposeful and robust. As a technical leader, he aims to inspire other developers with innovative technical concepts and enthusiasm, and to tackle the challenges that arise time and again in this work — with creativity and engineering rigor.
